If you are making this request for repairs after normal business hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00a.m. – 4:30p.m.) your request for a work order will be addressed the next business day.  You are being advised to call (843) 577-2204 for all after hours emergency work order requests.

The Housing Authority of the City of Charleston’s maintenance staff will only be responding to EMERGENCY resident requests for repairs. Calls for repairs are prioritized and responded to in order of urgency. To report repairs, residents at all locations should call 843-577-2204 to make a maintenance request and log.

To report emergency items, residents may call (843) 577-2204 anytime, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Residents will be charged a nuisance fee if the emergency number is dialed and the situation does not fall under the emergency items below.

Emergency Items:

  • Broken water line which cannot be shut-off
  • Stopped up main sewer line/commode (if only one in unit) does not include bathtub, kitchen sink or washing machine.
  • No heat in unit if outside temperature is below 45 degrees. (DO NOT USE RANGE AS SOURCE OF HEAT)
  • Cannot shut and/ or secure front or rear entry doors
  • Total loss of electrical power in unit (if on the weekend)
  • Gas leak inside or outside the unit
  • Water heater, refrigerator or range (if on the weekend)
  • Any item considered life threatening, hazardous to health of resident or causing major damage to the inside or outside of the unit.
